Tell us where we're wrong.....
Defending the Truth contacted several individuals below with the information we are releasing, a few we approached in person. None were willing to confirm or deny our findings. I have been contacted by individuals they know to correct names mentioned in our first release, including an overwhelming amount of information about our suspect and his sister.
When we created the website, others within
Our first witness contacted us back in the middle June of 2010.
Statement from witness. Jeremy Macoy confessed to witness that he provided transportation for a Brian Warren Kellogg to the Palmdale Park N’ Ride the evening of Michelle’s murder. Brian assured Jeremy that he just needed to pick up some money from a broad. Jeremy was warning our witness to stay away from Brian, that he was dangerous. Jeremy stated Brian killed Michelle to set an example to others that owed him money. That Michelle’s friend owed Brian money for drugs and Michelle offered to help out. Our witness stated Jeremy actually witnessed part of the crime and feared he would be considered an accessory to the murder. At that time Brian Kellogg was dating a friend of our witness, she is unwilling to help at this time, due to his abusive behavior. She also admitted to our witness that Brian stated he would kill her like he did that broad at the park N' ride and even released details of the murder to our witness.
Our witness contacted Detective Longshore with this information back when the investigation was open, and Detective Longshore assured our witness that her friend was a liar. That Michelle O’Keefe didn’t use illegal drugs. We believe that the biggest mistake by detectives was not following up with this information and that they thought our witness was stating that Michelle actually used illegal drugs. If they would have looked into the background of the individuals and their relation to Michelle, they would have noticed the connection.
We basically started with little information and a few names, but my main goal was to check for a connection between Michelle, Jeremy and Brian. Unfortunately Jeremy was accidentally shot back in 2001 and killed during an argument between two other men.
Michelle O’Keefe attended
Jeremy Macoy sister, Kelley Macoy attended QHHS from 1995-1997.
Ivan Orr is serving 9 years for Jeremy’s death. Ivan’s Sister Hillary Orr, attended school QHHS from 1997-1999.
I pulled up Brian’s record, which contained numerous charges, drug sales, possession, carrying a firearm, theft of mail, suspended license, etc… After researching Michelle’s Myspace profile and memorial site, I found messages from an Amanda Pica, which happens to be on Kelley Macoy’s friends list. Then I contacted our first witness again. Our witness claimed to know Amanda Pica & Kelley Macoy, but not from QHHS. Our witness knew them from a large group of associates that hangout at this party mansion, is how our witness put it. They all, hung out at one time or another.
My associate in
Amanda Pica, Amber Hanes, Greg Hanes, Evan Smith and Brett Webster all attended school with Michelle O’Keefe. Amanda was leaving memorial messages and then I found friends of Michelle’s on Amanda’s friends list, a Ken West and a Jessica? Then it occurred to me that Brian Kellogg was involved with this same group, during some of his previous charges. Possession of stolen mail, ect. A few others actually not listed were arrested before the 7, and at that point names started coming out. It may seem far fetched, but basically I was determined to confirm a connection or none.
Brian Kellogg has a sister by the name Jennifer Kellogg, which is serving time for her involvement in a different murder case back in August, 1997. Authorities didn’t know about Jennifer’s involvement until, her ex William Hoffman, sent a letter to the victim’s family. He was sentenced to life without parole shortly after charged in April, 1998. In 2005 they charged Jennifer Kellogg, the victims fiancée Amy Preasmyer and another guy for murder. Jennifer was sentenced to 17 years. 4 people were responsible for planning and executing this murder. 3 of the individuals kept quiet about it for 7 years before William wrote a letter to the victim’s family. Amy Preasmyer is Kristin Montero (Thompson) BFF, Kristin and Michelle were friends too...
Even though Kristin has no involvement in this, there is an definite connection between Michelle O'Keefe, Jennifer and Brian Kellogg.
Witness statement: Alright, A couple years back I use to hangout at this house up in Quartz Hills. It was a party pad, but the lady was like, 62 years old, that owned the house. And she had a young kid, and he had all these friends coming over partying. And um…She was kind of a mom, to all these kids, if they couldn’t go home. They would come there and she would get them off the streets. And they got where they could talk to her, all these people could talk to her without worrying about her saying anything. You didn’t have to worry about it. She was a partier, dude, she was 62 years old, but she did shit.
Unknown male: She did what everybody else did up here in the Antelope.
Witness: I go there one night and she tells me. I guess, we seen in the paper it was, it was coming up in the paper about that girl, Michelle O’Keefe getting killed. And what was happening with it, that they still hadn’t caught anybody. She said that she knew who killed her, you know. And I said how do you know that and she said that the guy was here and he told her that he did it. I said who was that, and she said Brian Kellogg. I didn’t know Brian Kellogg at the time, but she said that he came up there one night. It was him and her in the room talking; she said he told her that he killed that chic. And the reason he did it was because his sister was going out with this guy Charlie out in Palmdale. This Charlie supposedly sold a lot of cocaine, I don’t know, I don’t know him either. Michelle O’Keefe had met this dude, they weren’t going out or nothing, and they were just friends. This Brian Kellogg sister got real pissed off about it and she told Brian, “I wish that Broad was dead”. Or I wish somebody would kill her. And um, and that is what this lady told me. Then she said that Brian took it upon himself, went out to where she was at, getting in her car out there. A day or two later and shot her and killed her. He told that lady he did it, you know. At the time she was scared to death to say anything. And anybody else up there that knew about it too, because there were other people that knew about it too. But they were all too scared to say anything because they knew this guy was a fool. And they we’re afraid, he would come after them and kill them, you know.
He (Brian Kellogg) came up there another time and um, and he just come up there and kicked back in the upstairs bedroom with these guys while they were partying one day, for about twenty minutes. And he said, you guys come on down stairs, I want to show you something. These two guys went downstairs with him, her son and this other guy. And he opened up the truck of the car, and he had some guy in the car all duct taped. And he was alive, and he said the dude was a piece of shit and he was going to take care of him. I don’t know whatever happened with that, that’s just something I heard. I heard it from the guys; they were traumatized by seeing this.
Unidentified male: You weren’t at the house when they went downstairs?
Witness: No, I wasn’t in the house. They just told me about this, one day when we were talking about him (Brian Kellogg) shooting this girl, that just came up. That’s one of the reason they we’re scared to death of this dude, he was crazy. He was a fool and they knew this dude was capable of killing somebody.
Unknown male: So you didn’t get that from her, right? You got that from the guys who said that he showed them this dude duct taped?
Witness: Right. Yeah, Yeah..
Concerned male: Let me ask you this question. There are actually a lot of people that know about this. I’ve talked to two, one in which is deathly afraid of him and I’m trying to get close to. Did you ever meet Kellogg girlfriend, at the time?
Witness: No, no. I’ve only met him one time up there. One night he came up there and he was trying to pass a piss test, he was on federal parole. And..
Concerned male: Ok that must have been in ’06?
Witness: It was a ways back and ah, but he was spun out of his gore, you know, one of those schizo paranoid, just running around the house thinking the cops were out there, you know. And I didn’t say anything about that girl, or anything. I never have said anything about it, that was the only night I ever seen him.
Concerned male: How tall was he?
Witness: He was shorter than me, but I think he was maybe 180 – 190lbs. He was shorter than me. You know his sister, right. She’s in prison for murder and ah, because she thought her boyfriend was seeing someone else. She has some guy to bludgeon him to death. If you put two and two together, this guy, who would run around and tell people I killed this girl? And a story like that, the reason I did it, is because my sister was mad, because he was seeing.
Concerned Male: The motives are inconsistent, it sounds like this guy, who she. This Charlie
Witness: Yeah, I don’t know who he is. She was from Palmdale, and she had just met him supposedly. They weren’t like boyfriend or girlfriend. But this girl, Kellogg’s sister got pissed off about it, because she was seeing Charlie. And she said she wish this girl was dead, or wish somebody would kill her. She didn’t tell him to go kill her. But he just took it upon himself. That’s what I got from the conversation. But ah, I didn’t say anything about it because no one was arrested for this shit. And when I was in prison when, they did arrest this guy, and ah, and after you get out, read the story that he failed a lie detector test. But that’s not enough to convict someone of a crime. But um, I think the dude’s innocence. The day they found him guilty, I told these guys, that that guys innocent. And ah, I told them the story about what I heard up in Quartz Hills. I don’t know if that lady will come forward. She went to prison after this for a couple years and got out, on a bs charge. They set her up, and raided her house 11 times didn’t find no dope, and the 12 time there’s a car that didn’t have paperwork. So they arrested the kid for a stolen car. A week later, he goes to court. While their in court, nobodies home and they raid her house the 13th time and find a quarter ounce of dope, when nobodies in the house. And they end up giving her 3 years for it. And she’s scared to death of the dude, I don’t know if she would want to get involved or not. There are a few more people out there know about it. That heard the same story.
Concerned male: apparently the driver Jeremy Macoy, he’s dead. You know about that right?
Witness: I heard about that but I didn’t know he was the driver. Wait a minute you know what, now that I think about it. It rings a bell. I don’t even know this guy, this
Concerned male: yeah, what’s right is right.
Witness: The cops even raided another guys house, his name was Brian.
Concerned Male: Brian Mondain?
Witness: He worked at a bank; he told me he was getting ready to go on a fishing trip on his boat. This guy was probably 25 years old with a wife with kids. The cops nabbed him, took him to jail, I guess they thought he was Brian Kellogg. Or the Brian they were looking for, they interrogated him all day and ended up letting him go, because they had the wrong dude. But I can’t remember his name, a Brian um, um..
Unidentified male: You’re telling me they interrogated the wrong guy about the murder? The O’Keefe murder?
Witness: Yeah. You would think the parents would want the right dude for this murder, you know. I can’t remember this guys name, this is another guy that knew he took Michelle O’Keefe to the prom. He use to hangout up there and he told me. I think his last name is Masters, no wait I think his mother’s last name was Master’s. God I can’t remember his last name.
Concerned Male: Did you meet him?
Witness: Yeah I was friends with him. He took her to the prom; he’s a good dude, smart. He was another dude that knew about it, this ladies son and her. I don’t know if Brian Kellogg was questioned about it. There are a lot of other people that knew about it, I don’t know why it didn’t come out. It was hush, hush.
Concerned Male: Investigators were contacted about Brian Kellogg, but they said he was a liar. But the authorities were told Michelle owed drug money, not what you’re telling us. All these names that are popping up went to school with her and they hung out at this party house.
Witness: Oh, God I can’t think of their names
Concerned Male: This gal, does she live in the same place?
Witness: She lived up in Quartz Hills but she has a different place, she has a ranch now.
Concerned Male: she’s got a lot of money obviously?
Witness: oh yeah her old man, he’s real big around town you know. He’s a business man. I could call her and ask her. I don’t want to get her involved, if she’s scared to death.
Concerned Male: She’s not scared of Brian.
Witness: Is he even around here anymore?
Concerned Male: He’s in prison
Witness: He called this lady and yelled at her and called her a snitch. He had a lot of people scared up there.
Concerned Male: Have you ever seen the dateline episode, the Michelle O’Keefe thing?
Witness: oh no, I’ve never seen that. Wait I think the guy’s name that went to the prom with Michelle, might be Nick or Nate.
Well we know all the names of everyone involved in this group, and have contacted a few. We found a man by the name of David Ricco; he was there when Jeremy Macoy was shot. We also know that his best friend Matt Montique drove Jeremy to the hospital. David we visited in person, he doesn't want to get involved.
Then we contacted this woman that owned this party house up in Quartz Hills, Gloria (Audri) Hanes. She basically avoided knowing anything about Brian Kellogg’s involvement, even though 9 years before she told several people at her home he did it. Not only did Audri speak to our witness, but her son Greg Hanes and the individual that attended the prom with Michelle did too. Our witness doesn't know Michelle O'Keefe, Jeremy Macoy, Jennifer Kellogg, Charlie and only seen Brian Kellogg once. The time Brian was looking for a urine to avoid violation of his federal probation was around March of 2005. How would our witness know that Brian Kellogg was even on federal probation, if he wasn't told by the Hanes? Audri made up this story about going to the Palmdale park n ride with a friend. Her friend was changing clothes and Raymond Jennings knocked on the window and asked for a cigarette. Raymond Jennings didn’t smoke for one and he only worked at the lot 4 days.
It’s obvious everything our witnesses shared with us has merit, especially when we’re uncovering everything that was stated by the witnesses.
I personally contacted Ken West, one of Michelle O’Keefe’s friends; he is also friends with this entire group. This is what he had to say.

I have a feeling someone you adored, was ripped from you life years ago. I'm curious as to how much you're willing to do to make things right. Did she ever hangout at the Hanes house? And how well did you know Jennifer Kellogg? Are you willing to help?
help with what?
Julie Dyer July 11 at
I believe Michelle's murder hasn't been solved. We've been contacted by quite a few individuals in the AV, stating otherwise. Either there is some sadistic rumors traveling the AV or these witnesses’ stories actually have merit. If you don't feel comfortable answering the questions above, I understand. I'm not out to hurt anyone, I have no personal connection to anyone involved in Michelle's case. Just a concerned individual that has spent the last few months working with a few others in the AV on Michelle's case.
There's a tremendous amount of information that wasn't released to the public about Michelle's investigation. Two weeks ago an investigator working on Michelle's case, confirmed our fears. Your name came up as an connection between Michelle and Kellogg, again these just maybe roomers, even though we have confirmed the connection. I was asked not to come to you, maybe I shouldn't have. I think you cared about Michelle somewhat more than others know. Of course I might be wrong. I feel that Michelle deserves the truth, and if the truth is what we discovered, then it needs to come out. If we're wrong, I personally will never contact you again. Ken, I know it was a decade ago, either way I'm sorry for you lose.
Anything to help with finding out all the facts. What does Holly have to do with any of it. And what do you need from me?
Julie Dyer July 14 at
Ken is there a way for you to call me, so we could talk. I'm about 3 hours ahead of you. (***)***-**** I might have ID you as the wrong person in a photograph with Michelle, Kristin, Dee and Jennifer.
Where is the photo. I could most likely tell you who it is.
Julie Dyer July 14 at
Oh and did you go with Michelle to the Prom?
No. Didn't go to prom with Mich. I do know, most people in that photo. But the guy isn't me and I'm trying to remember him. I said earlier I didn't understand why Holly. But you wrote Jennifer. ???
Ken wouldn’t answer anymore of my questions, and for some odd reason thought I contacted Jennifer Kellogg. He basically confirmed that he knew about Brian and Jennifer Kellogg’s involvement. Holly Kellogg is Brian and Jennifer’s younger sister, she’s the Holly Ken’s referring to, and she has no involvement in this.
Gloria Audrey Hanes daughter, Amber Hanes and son, Greg Hanes both attended school with Michelle O’Keefe. Greg Hanes is basically a witness to Brian’s involvement with this guy in the trunk. Greg personally had spoken with one of our witnesses about the trunk ordeal and the Michelle O’Keefe murder. Charlie, the ex-boyfriend of Jennifer Kellogg, is Charlie Abbott 33, of
Last week we were contacted by another character witness, stating the individual that went to the prom with Michelle could have been a Nathan “Nate” O Malley.
Audri, ex husband is owner of Hanes & Associates; they just signed a 9 million dollar contract with the City of
Something stranger is that when Raymond Jennings was convicted for this crime, the few leaving messages on Michelle’s memorial sites, never said a thing about it. While others, unaware of these stories left messages of conviction and closure. When Defending the Truth contacted Detective Harris about Brian Kellogg, she couldn’t confirm investigating a Brian Kellogg, but they did question a Brian. We asked if there was a way to check if the dna found on Michelle O’Keefe could be compared to Brian Kellogg. She only replied that Brian Kellogg’s DNA Fingerprint should be in the CODIS. Brian Warren Kellogg's DNA fingerprint was collected February 17, 2009. If it was that easy to get a match, why would we need the Innocence Project?
We know that at one point all of these individuals had a drug problem and this party pad in Quartz Hills was utilized by quite a few teenagers years back. These teenagers come from well off families, and are basically well known in the community. So why would they keep the secrecy? At first, I believe they feared Brian Kellogg, but now, they fear being exposed to the community. Most of them have moved past that point in their life and are doing well. But when moving on from the past, they kept this certain dark secret and now an innocent man has been convinced for a crime he didn’t commit. Now Jennifer Kellogg is behind bars, but Brian has been released early October 2010. As to reasons he was released we are unsure, how could early parole possibly be available to repeat offenders with gun charges. We were told he had another few years, a month before his release. Something doesn't smell right.
Brian Warren Kellogg born 5/31/1977 was arrested in San Bernandino county July 23, 1999 for Exceeding 55 and Failure to appear. Released on ROR, failed to appear to court summons and a warrant issured for arrest October 7, 1999. Returned unserved March 10, 2000. He was arrested in Los Angeles County April 24, 2000 possession of firearm in vehicle, possession of marijuana, driving with suspended, etc... jumped bail after release May 1, 2000, twice. Bond amounts 75,000 and 35,000 and even at 10%, nice amount either way. Arrested in Ventura County May 1, 2001. We know for a fact that Brian was in Lancaster around the time Michelle was murdered and was caught with a firearm in vehicle he was operating. Vehicle wasn't his, and he claimed gun belonged to owner of vehicle.
Brian appearance, we are told then favored Raymond Jennings, even though he was a bit heavier and 2 inches shorter.
How could an 60 something year old women, come up with a story so undenibly provable, unless she was told by Brian Kellogg herself?
How could she know all these people had a connection to Michelle O'Keefe?
How could two witnesses that didn't know each other name the same suspect? One witness confessed to by Gloria Hanes and the other by Jeremy Macoy?
Why would the individuals we contacted continue to ask us to investigate, and then others not respond at all?
When we pulled up Brian Kellogg's record, we were astonished on how many different Brian Kellogg's there are within the same areas Brian traveled. 6 total, not including a lawyer. Our character witness stated she spoke to Longshore about another suspect during Raymond Jennings trial.
